Crazy Week! May 19, 2015

Hello!

This week was crazy! But that is okay! It was amazing!
We were able to meet with most of our investigators!!

Au is still doing amazing! She is getting baptized on June 6th and she is so excited! We meet with her multiple times a week and she is continuing to read the Book of Mormon! She is amazing!

We had an amazing lesson with A! She has figured out that in order to get anything from coming to church and meeting with us she has to put work in! The difference from the last time we met with her to this time was huge! It was incredible! I am so excited for her! She is amazing!

AND WE MET WITH K! And it was such an amazing lesson! We talked about the love of God and President Uchtodorf's talk "Living the Gospel Joyful"!! It was amazing! The spirit was so strong and she loved it! She has been coming to FHE every week and last week she came and played soccer with us and 4 other sets of missionaries and she loved it!! She has been prepared the last couple months and I think she is ready now! Blessings!

The River Valley Sisters are living with us again, there was a big fiasco with the people that they lived with so President Manion is moving them out and they are living with us until they can find them a new apartment! It is crazy but fun!

This Thursday we are having a whole Mission Conference! We have never been together as a whole mission before we are usually split in half! I am so excited!! Elder Brent H Nielson of the Seventy is coming and Brother Kelend Mills of the International Missionary Department are coming to give us training on iPads! It is going to be interesting but I am so excited!!! I love you all!

Mother's Day Skype! May 10, 2015

It's Still Snowing! May 12, 2015

What a great week! Even despite every one deciding to cancel on us. We saw so many miracles! On Friday we got a text from Au that said something about everything falling apart and the she was going to be homeless starting in June. So we ran over to her house and figured out what was going on. She had a place all figured out to live and her friend backed out so she didn't have anywhere to go and didn't know where to start looking so I started to text everyone I knew looking for a roommate haha. After about 24 hours we had 5 different houses in our ward that were looking for another roommate. We figured everything out and she went and viewed some houses yesterday. She has found one that she likes! Hooray! It was such an amazing experience because that morning we decided that we needed to pass her over to another set of sisters because she was going to be moving out of out ward. And it about broke my heart in half but now she is staying in the ward and she is still going to be baptized! Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need when we need it!

We were not able to meet with A, J and S, or K last week but we have appointments to see them this week!

It was so amazing to see what the Lord needs done with this area. One day every single appointment cancelled but we still saw amazing miracles all by the Lord's hand!

I love you all!

Miracle are continuing! May 4, 2015

And the miracles are continuing! But seriously this week was fantastic! So so many miracles!

Miracle #1 D spoke in Stake Conference. Yes, that is right, Stake Conference. And she did AMAZING! She told about her conversion story and how she found joy in the gospel! I was almost in tears. She is so fabulous! She missed church last week because she was throwing up and she felt so terrible. We helped her to realize that it is okay to miss church when you are really sick. haha. I just love her!

Miracle #2 We were stopping by a former investigator and his sister, Ki, answered the door. She said that she had listened to the missionaries once with her brother. We asked if she would be interested in meeting with us and learning more and she said Yes! But that is not all. 20 minutes after we had stopped by she texted us telling us how glad she was to have met us and how excited she was to meet with us! Still not all. A couple of days later she texted us and told us that she hadn't forgotten about us she was just trying to figure out a time that worked for her and her friend was wanted to learn as well! What? So amazing! Hopefully we will be able to teach Ki and her friend this week!

Miracle #3 We had a skype lesson with Kr! How cool is that? She wanted us to teach her the Law of Chastity and the Word of Wisdom before she had to meet with Elders down in Medicine Hat. She didn't want to have the Elders teach her the Law of Chastity because she said that would be awkward for everyone. haha :) It was so weird to have a lesson over skype but it is amazing that we are able to do that! The Lord has provided us with such amazing tools to share the gospel with!

Miracle #4 We met with Am again this week and she has progressed so much! She listens to Conference talks every single day, she came to Stake Conference, and she is reading from the Book of Mormon daily! It is truly amazing what the Lord can do to those who are have a sincere heart and real intent!

Miracle #5 Ka came to FHE last week and loved it! And after a week of not being able to get ahold of her we stopped by her house yesterday and she let us in to chat! She is coming to FHE tonight and we have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow! She has amazing fellowshippers who text her and invite her to activities and church. Her mom is willing to meet with the Sisters in the family ward which just so happens to be Sister Wa. So hopefully she will go to church with them on Sunday! Ka is slowly progressing but she is progressing!

Miracle #6 We met with Au 3 times this last week! We have asked her everytime about baptism and everytime she would bring up her family. She doesn't think that they will want to learn about it and she is so close to her family. I asked her if she prayed and received and answer that she needed to be baptized would she and she said she would! We went to her house yesterday and taught about Baptism, the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End. I asked her what was holding her back from being baptized and she said, "Nothing is holding me back now." We were so surprised! She was praying Saturday night and she received the answer that she needed to baptized! She knows that everything will work out with her family and that this is what she needs to do!! She has continued to read the Book of Mormon she is now in 2 Nephi 25. She has only been reading it for 2 weeks! She is absolutely amazing! The Lord is preparing people to hear the restored gospel we just need find them and share it with them! D&C 31:7 <3

I love you all!

The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ April 27, 2015

Rickee (Sis. Burton's little sister) had asked Sis. Burton to send her a lesson that she teaches investigators.  This is what Sis. Burton sent...

Rickee- The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
God is our Heavenly Father and we are His children. He loves us so much and only wants what is best for us becuase we are His children. In Romans 8:16 is says that "The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." Our Father in Heaven knows and loves each and every one of us more than we can ever comprehend. He has a plan and a purpose for each of us in this life. Because he loves us so much he has put of into families to help us learn and grow. We can see the love that Heavenly Father has for us because he has given us families! Just like our mother and father love us so much our Heavenly Father loves us so much as well!

Another way that we can see Heavenly Father's love for us is by Him giving us prophets. He has given us prophets all the way from the time of Adam and Eve to Thomas S. Monson! Prophets help us know what Heavenly Father wants us to do and what we can do to become more like Him. They have his priesthood authority to act in his name to help Heavenly Father's children.

One of the most important ways that we can see Heavenly Father's love for us is by Him sending His Son Jesus Christ to atone for all of our sins so that we can overcome spiritual death and to be crucified and Resurrected so that we can overcome physical death. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world , that he gave his only begotten Son , that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" The only way the we can have everlasting life is through Jesus Christ.

But Jesus Christ was crucified and the apostles were killed and the priesthood authority that was on the earth was gone. Think of Jesus Christ and the 12 apostles holding a vase, which is representing the church, all together. Slowly there hands start to leave as they are killed. Eventually all of the hands are gone. What happens when no one is holding up the vase? It falls and shatters. The same church that Christ established on the earth was no longer there. As soon as people saw that it was gone they wanted it back so they started to make their own "vase" but none of the vases were the same as Christ's vase.

So Heavenly Father needed to restore the Church of Jesus Christ back onto the earth. After many years of the church being gone from the earth Heavenly Father did what he has done throughout time, he called another prophet named Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith grew up in a time where there was much religious excitement and he didn't know what of the many churches were true. He read one day in James 1:5 and it said "If any of you lack wisdom , let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." He knew that he lacked wisdom so her decided to ask of God. He went into a grove of trees and kneeled down and prayed to Heavenly Father and this is his experience "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ told him that none of the churches were true and through Joseph Smith, Heavenly Father restored The Church of Jesus Christ back to the earth. It was the exact same vase that Jesus had when he was on the earth.

As part of the Restoration of the Gospel the Book of Mormon was translated with the power of God. As you read the Book of Mormon and pray to Heavenly Father you can know the truthfulness of these words. In Moroni 10:3-5 is says that,  "Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it... And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true ; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power... And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
As you pray with a sincere heart and real intent Heavenly Father will manifest the truth to you by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Then bear your testimony :)
Well Rickee. That is the first lesson we teach. I hope this is what you wanted! I love you so much!!!

Blessings April 27, 2015

This week has been another fabulous one!

My District before transfers.

On Tuesday we had a lot of lessons and said Sister W said goodbye to people. Leaving Sister W was one of the hardest things I have ever done! I love her so much! She is such an amazing missionary and best friend! I can't wait until we are both home and we can hang out and laugh together (because we do a lot of laughing together!) Our Mission President asked us why we were always laughing and we said it was because missionary work is a party!

On Wednesday I met my new companion, Sister R! She is so cute! She is from Kanab, Utah. I hope that I can teach her how fun missionary work is! I think I have because I laugh all the time :)

We met with Am on Wednesday. She is still doing super good! She has continued to read the Book of Mormon!! She as a lot of questions about the church culture. We are going to try to help her understand the doctrine and hopefully the understanding of why we do the things we do will come! We introduced to her to a member of our ward and she wants to come to our sacrament meetings! She has come such a long way in the few short weeks since we have known her!

On Wednesday we also met with a less active named Ch. She has had a hard life and is trying to figure out what she believes. We are teaching her the lessons again just so she can understand the doctrine of the church. Her stepdad has asked that we don't come to the house anymore so we walk her dog around the block with her then we sat in a park and taught her more about Baptism and the Holy Ghost.

Thursday we met with Au again! This week she read all of 1 Nephi! We taught her the Plan of Salvation and she loved it! She has always known that there was something after this life but she never understood what. She loves the church! She came to church again this week without her member friends. They were not even there! She is amazing! :)

Saturday we met with Kr for the last time :( She is absolutely amazing! And she will be a friend forever! We are going to keep in touch through email and facebook! We are having a skype lesson with her this week because she hasn't figured out where she is moving to. Once she does we are going to fax her teaching record to the missionaries and then she will finish the lessons and be baptized! She is so excited to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost!

And on Sunday we met with J and S. They both came to church! J loved it! He felt the spirit and wanted to bear his testimony! (It was fast Sunday because we have Stake Conference next week). J loved looking at the temple and wanted so bad to go inside. He has come a long way since we first met him. He still has a long way to go but he has decided that he wants to be baptized!! He set a date for May 29! Hopefully he will understand all of the church doctrine by then and hopefully we can get S on board. She just comes to spend time with J. We can tell that she is listening because sometimes she explains things to J but she pretends to not be interested. She will feel the spirit and come around soon!

"My favorite picture EVER!  Sis. Wa, K, Sis. W
and I doing a nice temple selfie!"

We were not able to meet with Ka but we saw her when Sister W said goodbye and we have been texting her all week. We have an appointment for tomorrow and hopefully she can come to FHE tonight!

I am so grateful to be a missionary and to be able to meet all of these amazing people! I have learned so much about myself and my relationship with my Heavenly Father this week! I am so so grateful for everyone that has strengthened my testimony both her in Canada and back home . I love you all!
