#lakewoodpride August 25, 2015

Well the time for transfers has come once again and Sister W and I thought we were safe but to no avail. We are being transferred...Sister W is going to open a new STL area in Glen Allan with my dear Sister W <3. And I am getting a new companion, Sister H! We are super bummed but we are ready for a new experience! We found out yesterday morning and the whole day we proceeded to hug and cry and hug and cry and visit people in between. It has been a really sad couple of days..I love Sister Whiting so much! She is so great!!! #bestfriendsforever

Sis. W and I...BFF's

We watched this school burn down.  This is the day after the fire
CRAZY!

As for other fun exciting news we went on exchanges with Stettler this week. I got to stay in Lakewood with Sister A whom I have been in exchanges with before when she was my Sister Training Leader! It was so fun to be with her again! She goes home this week! Ahh! Everyone I know in the mission is leaving! Crazy how time flies!

The Gateway YSA sisters!

This week was Millwoods Stake Conference! And it was super good! We had Elder Stacy from the seventy presiding and he was a fabulous speaker! The focus was on the Family Proclamation and keeping the Sabbath Day holy!
My District

Lunch with our "made-up zone.  We never see anyone in our zone
so we joined this zone.  Haha!

Sunday we met a new family in our Ward. The husband, N, is a member but hasn't been to church in 40+ years and his wife, K, is not a member, yet. :) They are both super excited to be coming back to church! We can't wait to start teaching them!

So now on to a funny story...we were kidnapped this week. But not a usual kidnapping. We were scheduled to have dinner with C this week so we went over to her house and she informed us that she would be kidnapping us, but we drove our own car..she took us to Mucho Burrito where we had super good Canadian Mexican food (it doesn't even compare to the Mexican food in the States but we haven't had good Mexican food in over a year so it was good!) the. She proceeded to have us follow her to Goodwill where she took us shopping for clothes for other Sisters in the mission because she has been having nightmares that some of the Sisters don't have clothes to wear...oh
man. C has too big of a heart! She is too cute! Well that is our lame kidnapping experience. #kidnappedtoshop
#sisterwhitinggotmehookedonhashtags

Dinner with C, H her member friend, S her daughter
and S boyfriend.

My very first day in Lakewood we went to C's house and we put huge
containers of ketchup into smaller containers.  We were at her house
yesterday and saw these massive ketchup containers and were reminded
of the last time we saw those. :)

Well that is about the extent of our week. I hope you have a great week!!
Love you!!

The Email of Excellence August 18, 2015

This week was great! On Wednesday, Sister W and I gave a training at the Follow Up Training Meeting for all of the new missionaries and their trainers! It was really good!
We gave a training on Unity.

Thursday we did a Mormon.org lemonade stand near the Millwoods Library. It was such a cool experience! We had Relief Society Sisters there with us and we gave away lemonade, cookies, and copies of The Book of Mormon. We were able to talk to so many people! The members were able to testify to strangers about how the Book of Mormon has helped them. We gave away 25 copies of the Book of Mormon! It was a fabulous day/2 hours!

Thursday evening we had exchanges with the Southgate Sisters. I went to Southgate with Sister V V! They don't have a car so it was so fun to walk around and use the buses all day! I loved it!!

Saturday we had a Ward Potluck that the ward mission was in charge of. Sister W and I were in charge of the game where you hang donuts on a string and they have to eat it without using their hands. It was so fun to watch all the kids and adults try and eat it!

And Monday..we had an interesting experience. We received a media referral for a lady named K. She called the temple a little while ago and asked to meet with missionaries. So we drove to her apartment buiding yesterday and texted her telling her we were there. she told us that she was on her porch looking for us but we did not see her. After standing outside for like 15 minutes looking for her in a sketchy neighborhood on a dark and rainy night, she finally appeared and she threw us down her key to get into the building because she didn't want to leave her apartment. She house was basically empty except for a few boxes and a kitchen table. We sat there for an hour and a half listening to her life story which included everything from her childhood, her life of the streets, her current love interest, her past sins, her repentance story, and her experiences baptizing her grandchildren into her own church..and that only scratches the surface..After an hour and a half she finally took a breath and we interrupted her by saying we had to be home. It was quite an entertaining night. We have an appointment to go to her house next week. So I will let you know how it goes and if we get any teaching in.

Well that was my week. I sure love you all! Have a great week!

Car Wash and Church Tours August 11, 2015

Well hello mi familia :)

This week was super duper great!

We had a free car wash at the church on Saturday! It was so great!  While a bunch of Elders washed the cares, we gave church tours to a million people!  It was so cool!  We met so many people and got quite a few return appointments!  We are going to do it again in a couple weeks! :)

Also this week we were able to meet with T, C, and R! But wea re passing R over to the Hillvew Elders because we feel like that would be better for everyone.  Haha.  We don't have any Elders in our Ward so we use the Hillview Elders for the elder needs in our Ward.

We are meeting with T again tonight in a member of our ward's house!  It is going to be so great!

Yesterday we got a new investigator named Z. She is from Ethiopia and she is amazing.  We are having a Ward BBQ this Saturday and she is so excited to come!

Well this was such a great week but I can't think of anything else to say.  I love you all!
 Have a fantastic week!

Heritage Days! August 4, 2015

Hello! This week was CRAZY! But super great!

Exchanges this week were in Lacombe! Which is a small town south of Edmonton. I had such a good time with Sister R! She is a doll!

Thursday we had Mission Leadership Council, with all of the zone leaders and sister training leaders, all day. President and Sister Manion each gave trainings and so did the Assistants. Now from those trainings us and the zone leaders will give trainings to all of the zones in Zone Training Meetings this week!

Sis. Burton, Sis. Rush, Sis. Jones

We all came out together and were all at
Mission Leadership Council!

Saturday we volunteered at Heritage Days along with every other missionary in Edmonton! It was super fun! Heritage Days is a huge festival where people from 40+ countries have booths with food, dancers, and souvenirs. We wore cute (hideous) Edmonton Food Bank vests/bibs. And asked for everyone's extra tickets and food donations. Everyone comes into Heritage Days on buses and we stand outside the buses and talk to people. We did get to take an hour to walk around the park and eat food and watch dancers! My favorite dancers were from Ethiopia and Eritrea. And my favorite food was from Cambodia and Chile!  It was a long day but really fun!

This is the same lake that I ice skated on and where Sis. Lytle
broke her ankle.

So I realized that I really haven't told you much about our investigators..
So here we go!
C! Cis amazing! She loves the church and the missionaries! She is the sweetest and most selfless person I have ever met! She is working through some health issues right now. Everytime we go to C's house we get food. She either feeds us what they are having for dinner, Sunday night is was some steaks that they are cooking on the BBQ or sends us home with bags of chips, pop, and candy bars.

T! T is a former investigator that took lessons from the missionaries before Sister W and I were born...haha she doesn't remember much of what the missionaries taught her, go figure. haha. She loves learning and is ready to start going to church again. We have been doing service for her, which is great for us! We get to wear pants!! We are meeting with her tonight!!

S! S is the investigator that we weren't sure if she was a member or not. Upon further investigation we have come to the conclusion that she is not a member. So when she gets home from holidays we have to somehow tell her that she was not baptized into the Mormon church. #awkward She gets home this week so we can meet with her on Sunday!! Hooray!

A! A is our adorable 9 year old investigator whom I have not met yet. She has been in Ontario for the past 4 weeks. And she won't be back until the end of August. When she gets back we are going to finish teaching her the lessons and she is going to be baptized! I am so excited to meet her! I have seen pictures and she is so cute!

And finally R. Oh R. What an interesting experience we had this week. The YSA sisters found him and we had a lesson with him this week. R is from India and he is into yoga. So before he let us teach him he wanted to teach us more about yoga. it was super funny! I had to bite my lip to not burst into laughter. He was passing us positive energy and teaching us how to breathe deeply. Baha. Everyday since then he has texted us on his morning walk telling us that he is sending us positive energy. We did get to teach him but it was a bit of a gong show so hopefully tonight will be better!

We got a rosemary and basil plant.  Ronald is no longer alone.
He has friends!

This morning was Temple Pday! I LOVE the temple!

Love you all!
Love, Sister Burton xoxo
