I LOVE CANADA!

Hello Everyone!

This week was great! I am sorry for last weeks email it was very short and not very descriptive. I thought I had way less time than I really did. So this week I will explain a lot more and hopefully entertain you with my stories.

So after emailing last week we went grocery shopping. Canada is expensive. A gallon or litre or something is like 5 bucks. Way expensive here. We thought we had a lot of food at our apartment but were wrong.....This past week our main food that we eat for lunch is spaghetti noodles, without sauce. Just the noodles. We have no food! Luckily the ward is super supportive so we have suppers almost every night! So we don't starve!

My favorite road in Canada

We have three investigators but I still have not met any of them. They disappeared. We haven't dropped them yet but we might. So this week was focused on FINDING! And miracles happened this week! Monday night we were tracting and we tracted into a couple who let us in! Adrienne and Kaelin! They are the best! They aren't exactly interested in switching religions....yet...but they will be. They are soooo intelligent. They ask the most interesting questions. They both studies religions so they have read the BOM. But just for class not for learning. So we are teaching them! We taught them the Restoration. Their biggest problem with the Restoration is that they believe that there are no prophets after Christ. So they don't believe JS was a prophet. We will convince them otherwise. We have been studying The Plan of Salvation so well so that when we teach them next we will be ready for their questions! We called them on Saturday to set up and appointment and they were sooooo excited. We gave them all of our pamphlets at our first lesson and they asked for more so we need to find more. I love them!

Our ward has soooo many less actives so we visit quite a few every week. On Wednesday we visited a less active I will call her Y.  She has one cat and when I left I was covered in cat hair. Sheila you would have loved it. haha! She was very nice! But I couldn't handle the cats or the smells....

Sis. Budge and Sis. Burton

On Wednesday we visited our Ward Mission Leader and he told us the greatest news! He has been working with his neighbor Pam and on Tuesday night she came over and asked him to give her a blessing because he offered one a while ago and she remembered about it and wanted one. So he gave her one and also invited her to meet with us and read the BOM and she said yes!! So we are going to hopefully meet her this week and start teaching her!

I don't remember if I told you about Ted. But I will again. I love Ted. He is a less active living in the hospital. He has such a sweet spirit and I love him so much! We visit him every week and he loves it! This week he told us he was moving on Wednesday. And it just about broke my heart. So we are going to visit him one last time tomorrow...He brightens my whole week! I am so sad he is moving!

On Saturday we helped out at a funeral. It was weird. I don't like non Mormon funerals. It was for a member in our wards father who is not a member. Sister Budge played the violin at the funeral and we helped serve the food at the luncheon. It was weird but hopefully we planted a seed in the hearts of his family.

I love being a missionary and I am learning so much from everyone around me! I love and miss you all! I hope you have a wonderful week!

Canada Bound

Sis. Rush, Sis. Burton, Sis. Jones

Man oh man! I love being a missionary! The last few days at the MTC were amazing! I loved my district! It was so hard to say goodbye to the elders!

My MTC District
The night before we left. Me Sister Jones and Sister Rush did not sleep. We stayed awake all night packing and cleaning. We had to be on the bus at 2:30 am. Yuck. Our flight to Denver left at 5:45. We were delayed of course do airplanes ever leave on time? No. When we landed in Denver we had to run to our other plane because of course it was on the other side of the airport. But we made it. And that flight was delayed for an hour. Lame.

But we finally landed and met the mission president and his wife. President and Sister Manion. They are the cutest things ever! We stayed the night at the mission home which is an actual house. Who knew?

And then the next day we found out our companions and where we were going. So where am I you might ask??

I am in Sturgeon! It is a ward in St. Albert, north of Edmonton. We cover 1 ward and it is pretty big.  My companion is Sister Budge from Logan Ut and she is the cutest thing ever! I love her so much! We get along really well!!

So some things about Canada. I am the designated driver so that stinks but oh well. And they drive soooooooo slow here. The fastest I have seen on the Highways was 100 kmh. (60 mph). But on just regular roads it is usually 50-60 kmh. or 30-40 ish mph. Soo slow all the time! It is nuts.

Sis. Budge and Sis. Burton
Our apartment is a dump. But luckily we are moving out on August 30 into a members home so that should be nice.

Right now we have 3 investigators but none of them will get back to us. So we might drop them :( I have never met any of them. This ward has soooo many less actives so we teach them a lot a lot a lot. We have a fantastic ward! We have suppers almost every night! They are such good fellowshippers and I love them all!

The mosquitos here are crazy. I look like I have leprosy on my legs. So many bites. And cortizone 10 is my life saver! There is one family in our ward that I absolutely adore the Leduc's they let us do our laundry every week and feed us once a week! They are amazing! Mom. They are coming to Utah next week and they said they would bring you a letter from me! How nice! If you meet them! Send the package with them!! I don't need anything else!

Sis. Budge

Being a missionary is amazing! I can memorize so many things! It is awesome! I don't have much time hopefully next week will have more details. Love you all!

MTC Week 1

(My Zone at the Provo Temple)

I love the MTC! The spirit here is so amazing! I have learned so much in the past week that I am not even the same person. I am a person who is not very good at teaching the gospel but is improving. I have definitely had to learn humility and selflessness because this work is not about me.

Last night we had a devotional with Bruce C. Hafen, an emeritus general authority, and it was really good! He talked about why we, as missionaries, go through the temple before we go on a mission. It was interesting. I forgot my notes but read D&C 109 if you want to learn of blessings that come from going through the temple!

(Me and Sis. Rigby)

The food here is decent. We usually have 3-4 choices every meal so that is nice and I can usually find something that I like to eat. I eat the freshly cut pineapple every single meal because it is delicious!!! Holy moly it is amazing! And seriously everyone says the chocolate milk is good but oh man it is more than that, it is sent from Heaven. It is glorious. And the cookies. Man, I am going to get fat. haha.

My companion, Sister Rigby, and I are two totally different people we have nothing in common but we are making it work and we are really good together when teaching. She has such a powerful testimony but she is shy so I do most of the talking which is hard. I love my district! They are amazing and we have so much fun together. There are 4 Sisters and 4 Elders. The Elders and Sister Rigby are heading to Seattle Washington and me, Sister Jones and Sister Rush are going to Edmonton!

(My District)

Our flight for Edmonton leaves Tuesday morning at 5:00 am. So me and the sisters have to go to the travel office at 2:30 am. That means that we have to wake up at like 1:30. yuck. We have a short layover in Denver so I will probably call for a very short time before my first flight so it will be early in the morning sorry!

I have been teaching 2 investigators. One is Charlie (my teacher Sister Killpack) and the other one is a legitimate investigator Lawanna. We have taught Charlie 3 times and and Lawanna twice. We got both of them to pray yesterday which was so amazing! It is amazing to teach by the spirit and know exactly what they need to hear. They both agreed to continue reading the Book of Mormon and pray about it! It is so exciting! I love seeing the happiness the experience when they feel the spirit and taste of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

(Sis. Rigby, Sis. Jones, Sis. Rush, Sis. Burton)

Yesterday we read the BOM as a district and in like 45 minutes read one chapter. We started in 1 Nephi 1. You should all read that chapter and look at the many many similarities between Nephi and Joseph Smith! It is amazing! The BOM really is a blueprint for our day. Starting with Joseph Smith. Amazing!

(Sis. Rigby, Sis. Rush, Sis. Jones, Sis. Burton)

The first morning we were here me and the other sisters in my room were in the bathroom brushing our teeth when we realized that we were locked out of our room. We are all in PJ's no name tag, no shoes. Locked out. So we went to our cute Sister Training Leader and asked her what we should do. She ran to the main building 1M for us and got us a spare key. Man, of course, that would happen to me. haha but we were still early to class and we looked decent that day.

 (My Room)

(My space)
I have the worlds most amazing teachers. Sister Ogletree (served in Independence, Missouri) and Sister Killpack (served in New Zealand). They are so amazing and I learn so much from them every single time they open their mouth. It is amazing!
